Welcome to J. Richard Lawrence, Family Dentistry

Dr. Lawrence has been practicing for 30 years and has welcomed his partner, Dr. Jan Miller to the Port Jefferson Office. They provide a complete range of dental services for children and adults in a friendly, caring manner at affordable fees. New patients are gratefully accepted and are offered a free exam and bitewing x-rays. We also extend a free consultation for Implants. Click here to view the array of services we offer. Most insurance plans are accepted including Unions and Medicaid. We offer interest free loans for extensive treatment plans.

On your first visit to our office, we will give you a thorough examination take necessary x-rays and discuss our findings. Our treatment recommendations tend to be conservative. We want you to be completely informed of your options before proceeding with care.

Our goal is to help you maintain your natural teeth for a lifetime. We hope you find this website a helpful introduction to our practice. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to give us a call or e-mail us.

Delaying treatment can have serious consequences.

We keep ourselves up-to-date on the latest procedures and elect to use equipment and procedures that have proven predictability. You can be certain you will recieve state-of-the-art-care in our office.

While no dental procedure is 100% comfortable, we go to great lengths to minimize any discomfort you might feel. The following are some of the techniques we use to provide you with as comfortable an experience as possible.

Different patients have different needs for pain and anxiety control medication. Depending upon the procedure and your wishes, there are many medications we can prescribe.

Patients with certain medical conditions (e.g. valvular heart conditions and artificial joints) may be asked to pre-medicate with antibiotics prior to treatment. Please inform us if you have a condition that might need pre-medication.

Injections of Anesthesia
In the past, injections of dental anesthesia may have been uncomfortable. We recognize this and take extra care by using a topical ointment on your gums first and administer the injection slowly and precisely to reduce the painfull sensation that can be experienced.
